The State Youth Council (SYC) is one of the primary ways that the Maine Conference supports youth in worship and in fellowship. Its mission is to bring together the Maine Conference youth for worship, socializing, and fun. The SYC acts as a statewide Youth group that allows students without a church youth group in their hometown, to grow in their Christian faith. All that is required of an SYC member is an affiliation with a U.C.C. church and to be a high school student. It's existence is due to the dedication of it's own high school students, who participate annually in an election selecting the Executive Committee of 9 students. Three advisors, who graciously volunteer their help for three years, assist these nine in the procedures and by-laws of the council.

![]() Every year the State Youth Council holds three official meetings throughout the year. Beach Day, held during the month of August, brings the youth together for a day of fun in the summer sun. Fall Convention is held at Pilgrim Lodge, a peaceful lakeside camp owned and operated by the Maine Conference. Lastly, during February vacation, all of SYC gathers at a church somewhere in the state, named appropriately, "Midwinter". For three days, SYC participants enjoy a great weekend of snowy-white winter in Maine!
