The National Youth Event is a UCC gathering held every four years. It provides an opportunity for about 3000 youth from all over the country to gather for four days of worship, workshops, faith, fun and fellowship. It is planned by the collaborative efforts of UCC Local Church Ministries, Worship and Education Ministry staff and a National Youth Event Planning Committee comprised of a diverse group of youth and adult volunteers. Locally, SYC member Lauren Roedner from Saco is serving on the NYE Planning commitee. If you click on her name you can e-mail her with any questions you may have about NYE 08! Who can go? NYE is for youth ages 13 – 18, their youth advisors and chaperones. Our goal is to send 120 Maine Youth to NYE 08!!! How much does it cost? The registration cost for NYE is $345 per person, and includes accommodations and meals from Thursday night through Sunday night. However, the cost of transportation is not included in that price. When does the registration start? Registration is scheduled to open in late February 2008. Unfortunately, there is no early registration process. What should we do to prepare for NYE? Tell your youth group about NYE if they don’t already know! Begin fundraisers to help offset the cost of your trip! Help your youth group make a short video explaining “Why we’re going to NYE 2008” and post it to You Tube! Where can I find more information?
